All the Glory

I see Election as one of the most despised doctrines among many believers today. What should have been for the glory of God has become a matter to be avoided at all costs. Even people who seem to be in favor of it are double minded about it. It is most surprising because there is a similar word - 'chosen' which actually means the same thing but which does not cause any difficulty to anybody. We always boast in being 'chosen' but we hate the word 'elected'. What I find even more surprising is that believers say that to claim people are elected can become an excuse not to evangelize and so let's avoid talking about it in the church. Paul found no such contradiction. We evangelize because we carry the heart of God for the lost but we are not God and only God knows who are His. Our duty is to call people to repentance and this call is universal. It is God's choice to grant repentance. Let me reiterate- We chose God because he chose us first. It should be proclaimed and heralded. We have to give God ALL the glory.

Holy Spirit Guidance

Believers are seeking for Holy Spirit guidance in so many areas in their lives. Some even go to absurd lengths like what dress to wear for the party etc. Now it is so true and necessary for us to receive specific guidance for specific situations. But what we do not usually realise is the Holy Spirit can give specific instructions only to those who are ready for it. We fail to receive clear guidance sometimes just because we are not ready for fuller obedience. I have seen people tell me that they are willing to fast and pray if they are specifically told to by Holy Spirit. Well, why don't we fast and pray so that we can be better prepared for Holy Spirit instructions? Our spirit is willing but our flesh is weak. Unless we learn to overcome the flesh, we may never enter into the deeper things of God.
