We were once held bondage to sin and were taken captive by the devil to do his will. The bible says that we have been set free from the clutches of sin and death. We are now free. And then we are told that we are now slaves to Jesus. So then in what way are we free? Well, let's look at this clearly. Even though we have been brought into the kingdom of Jesus, it is a kingdom based on love and not fear. Therefore we can receive the benefits of the kingdom only by deciding to become a slave to Jesus. We were once slaves by compulsion. Now we are free to become a slave out of love. That's when a 'believer' becomes a disciple. Yes, Jesus is Lord of all. But He wants to be your personal Lord too, and that happens only when you receive and walk under that Lordship. There is no sense in God forcing us to bow the knee. Let's bow the knee in humble adoration.
